SINGA in Jharkhand

Material: Buffalo horn, bamboo

The Singa is a wind instrument of Jharkhand, an integral part of the music tradition of the state, which is played on different occasions, particularly wedding ceremonies. It is made of brass, shaped like the letter 'S', and played by blowing at one end with the mouth, so as to form the sound at the conic opening at the other end. Wedding processions are incomplete without the resonating music of the Singa.
