14 APRIL AMBEDKAR JAYANTI – DR B R AMBEDKAR (1891 to 1956)
Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891, in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow. Popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, he was an Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer.
Interestingly, he knew 9 languages and he was also the first Indian to have done a doctorate.
Dr B R Ambedkar campaigned against the social discrimination shown towards the Dalits and worked tirelessly to uplift them. He came to be known as the Father of the Indian Constitution, as he was the chief architect behind its drafting. He was conferred with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna after his death on 06 December 1956.
