The video is a documentary on the Muslim wedding songs of West Bengal. The film includes interviews with singers and the narration is in Bengali with English subtitles. The Muslim wedding songs of Bengal is a very popular tradition which has been well preserved among the rural community. The film showcases the wedding songs performed by women in the districts of Birbhum, Murshidabad, Malda, Jalpaiguri and Burdwan. These songs are usually performed in an uninterrupted manner to the beat of a drum or hand-clapping. These songs are often accompanied by dancing and are interspersed with the kaap or improvised enactments of diverse scenes of rural life with impromptu dialogues. These songs were once performed within the inner sanctum of a woman's quarters but in the 1970s they were brought out into the public domain. This momentous event occurred at the Durgapur village of the Jibanti region in Murshidabad.
