Chautara is a stringed instrument made of wood and steel. Found in Rajasthan, it is mostly used by the Kamad community for rhythmic accompaniment for devotional singing.

Highly decorated wooden body and belly in two separate parts. Chautara has no similar peg box and is around 115 centimeters in length. Four steel strings are tied to pegs placed on the upper side- 2 in front and 1 each on the two sides. Mostly used by the Kamad community for rhythmic accompaniment for devotional singing.
