For transgenders, singing and dancing is a respectable mode of livelihood. Such groups engage themselves in attending ritualistic functions of the society, like child birth and marriage ceremonies. Over the years, they have made their presence significantly felt by convening events such as Vachan Vaachan Mahotsav (Delhi) and Kinnar Mahotsav (Patna). Separated from their family and cultural ecology, transgenders form a community amongst themselves with a variety of cultural expressions. Delhi is a favourite destination for transgenders to migrate and find livelihood. They join a group headed by a Guru and do a variety of jobs.
Recognizing the ongoing need to position itself for the digital future, Indian Culture is an initiative by the Ministry of Culture. A platform that hosts data of cultural relevance from various repositories and institutions all over India.
