Description: Goa, situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea, Goa was once ruled by the Portuguese. Even today a glimpse of this is visible in its culture. Goa is also called the confluence state of Indian and Western cultures. Goa has imbibed many musical styles. Fado is one of them. Fado is a semi-classical urban folksong that emerged in Portugal in the early 19th century. It is a stoic soul style that has been declared by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Ms. Sonia Shirsat is known as India's greatest Fado singer. She has promoted this style throughout the world. At the same time, she has also done a great job of connecting Fado with the folk music of Goa. Currently, she also teaches Fado singing to new artists. Sonia has received the best singer award from the Tiatra Academy of Goa. Apart from this, she has also been awarded the Youth Creation Award of the Government of Goa and the Ustad Bismillah Khan Award of Sangeet Natak Academy, Delhi.
During Sanjari, Ms. Sonia Shirsat's melodious vocals were spectacularly accompanied by Orlando Di Noronha of Goa on the Portuguese guitar and Carlos Menezes on the Viola do Fado. These artists created a splendid ambience by playing contemporary songs along with traditional Portuguese numbers. There is a certain calmness as well as a versatility in Sonia Shirasat’s style of singing. Along with weightiness, she has a wonderful elasticity in her voice.
Apart from her singing, she was also spreading magic with her expressions. She presented all the shades of her singing repertoire in front of the audience. 'Kansao Du Mar', ‘Ka Deuj Ma Pardoi', ‘Amor de Mel', 'Lisbo Nao Sejaj Francesza', 'Rua du Capelao', 'Lonz da Ki', 'Fala the Mulyer', 'Shuva', ‘Muda Tudo’, ‘Meu Amor Marinhero’, ‘Nao Reeaj' and presentations like 'Barco Negro' greatly entertained the audience.
These songs mentioned all aspects of human life, in which there was a sense of peace along with entertainment. During this event, legendary violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam and his wife, the popular singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy, were also present. Additionally, several delegates from the Portuguese Embassy and Spic Macay also enjoyed this program.
अरब सागर के तट पर बसे गोवा में कभी पुर्तगालियों का शासन था। आज भी वहाँ की संस्कृति में ये झलक दिखाई देती है। गोवा को भारतीय और पश्चिमी संस्कृति का संगम प्रदेश भी कहा जाता है। गोवा ने कई संगीत शैलियों को आत्मसात किया है। इसी में से एक शैली है- फाडो। फाडो एक अर्धशास्त्रीय शहरी लोकगीत है, जो पुर्तगाल में 19वीं शताब्दी की शुरूआत में उभरा था। यह एक उदासीन आत्मात्मक शैली है, जिसे यूनेस्को ने मानवता की अमूर्त विरासत के तौर पर घोषित किया है।
सुश्री सोनिया शिरसत को भारत की सबसे महान फाडो गायिका के तौर पर जाना जाता है। उन्होंने पूरी दुनिया में इस शैली का प्रचार प्रसार किया है। साथ ही साथ उन्होंने फाडो को गोवा के लोकसंगीत से जोड़ने का बड़ा काम भी किया है। मौजूदा समय में वे नए कलाकारों को भी फाडो गायन सिखाती हैं। सोनिया को गोवा की तियात्र अकादेमी से सर्वश्रेष्ठ गायिका का पुरस्कार मिल चुका है। इसके अलावा उन्हें गोवा सरकार के युवा सृजन पुरस्कार और संगीत नाटक अकादेमी, दिल्ली, के उस्ताद बिस्मिल्लाह खान पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किया गया है।
संजारी में सुश्री सोनिया शिरसत की सुरीली गायकी के साथ गोवा के ही ओरलैंडो दी नोरोन्या ने पुर्तगाली गिटार और कार्लोस मेनेजीज ने व्हायोला डू फाडो पर जबरदस्त संगत की। इन कलाकारों ने गोवा के पारंपरिक पुर्तगाली गीतों के साथ साथ समसामयिक गीतों को बजाकर शानदार माहौल बना दिया। सोनिया शिरसत की गायकी में एक निश्चित ठहराव के साथ साथ चंचलता भी है। दमदार आवाज के साथ उनके गले में अद्भुत लोच है। अपनी गायकी के अलावा वे अपने भावों से भी जादू बिखेर रही थीं। उन्होंने अपनी गायकी के गुलदस्ते के तमाम रंग दर्शकों के सामने पेश किए। ‘कनसाओ दु मार’ ‘क देउज म पर्दोई’ ‘अमोर डी मेल’ ‘लिस्बो नाओ सेजज फ्रांसेजा’ ‘रूआ दु कपेलाओ’ ‘लोन्ज दा कि’ ‘फाला द मुल्येर’ ‘शुवा’ ‘मुदा तुदो’ ‘मेउ अमोर मारिनहेरो’ ‘नाओ रीअज’ और ‘बार्को नेग्रो’ जैसी प्रस्तुतियों ने दर्शकों का जमकर मनोरंजन किया।
इन गीतों में मानव जीवन के तमाम पहलुओं का जिक्र था, जिसमें मनोरंजन के साथ साथ शांति का भाव भी था। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान महान वायलिन वादक डॉ. एल सुब्रमनियम और उनकी पत्नी लोकप्रिय गायिका कविता कृष्णमूर्ति भी मौजूद थे। साथ ही पुर्तगाली दूतावास और स्पिक मैके के कई प्रतिनिधियों ने भी इस कार्यक्रम का लुफ़्त उठाया।
